aboutCreated by Gareth Loudon, Just Druid is about an attitude to life - partly inspired by the famous Nike slogan “Just Do It” but also about the importance of inward reflection and our connection to nature through the symbolism of the Druids – and to reflect Gareth’s Welsh roots.

Western culture is often associated with action, while eastern philosophy and culture is often associated with inward reflection. Just Druid tries to highlight the importance of bringing those two aspects together. Achieving inner peace and personal happiness is one important aspect – but linking that with action can have an even greater positive impact.

With the challenges facing the planet (and all of us who live on it) the third and final element of Just Druid is the importance of our connection to nature. That is why the t-shirts are 100% organic and are sourced from Earth Positive who solely use renewable green energy. In addition, the printing of the Just Druid name is done with 100% toxic-free, water based ink.

You can read more about the background to the Just Druid idea in the background section.

The modern style font chosen for the Just Druid name is meant to highlight the importance of looking forward and making a positive difference now rather than looking backwards with a nostalgic eye.

The grey and green colours of the Just Druid name represent the colours of the welsh landscape (it does rain a lot in Wales).  The green colour focusing on the “u” signifies that we all have to take responsbility for our actions.

jd_symbolThe Just Druid symbol was designed by Gina Deininger.

The concept is derived from the triquetra, and tries to capture the Celtic connection with a handmade feeling.

The three interlocking rings represent the three elements of inward reflection, outer action and our connection to all of nature.

The symbol also represents our Globe and how everything is interconnected, whether that is the connection between our inner thoughts, beliefs and values and our motivations, resultant behaviours and actions; or our actions and the affect on our environment (and vice versa); or our  connection between our inner thoughts, beliefs and values and our attitude towards the environment.

Nike might have a philosophy that says “Just Do It”, but we prefer “Just Druid”.
