About
I am a senior lecturer in Product Design at the Cardiff School of Art and Design, UWIC. My research interests focus on creativity and the product innovation process, combining ideas from anthropology and psychology, engineering and design. I am currently running a research project called “Creating New Realities” and I am one of the co-founders of the PAIPR research group. Prior to joining UWIC, I worked for Apple Research and Ericsson Research in the design and development of new software and computer embedded products.
For more on my background and previous work check out my past work, and publications.
In addition to my work at UWIC, I also run my own training and consultancy company helping individuals, businesses and organisations with their innovation processes. I also have a sideline activity selling organic fair trade t-shirts under the brand “just druid” as it symbolises my philosophy on life.
I am a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Outside of work I am a keen golfer, play a bit of cricket in the summer (badly) and love to watch rugby. I also enjoy my woodland walks for peace and some inspiration – I am very fortunate to live on the edge of Newport, South Wales with a large woodland area on my doorstep. I have practiced meditation for about 20 years and use those skills in my work on creativity, and to chill out.
